Ron Paul calls for an End to the Racist War on Drugs

I believe that, while we have come a long way on issues of race, the death penalty and the War on Drugs so disproportionately affect African Americans that these policies are effectively the biggest threats to racial equality in our nation. Of all mainstream presidential candidates, Congressman Ron Paul is the only bold leader on these issues, and his policies would work to reverse the systemic disparities which cause us to imprison a higher percentage of our African American population than South Africa did during Apartheid. 63% of those incarcerated for drug charges are African Americans despite the fact that most experts say only around 14% of African Americans even use drugs. It's obvious that our judicial system is not fair to African Americans and that the War on Drugs has not reduced drug use in any way, but has significantly increased violent crime statistics due to the rise of organized crime. Ron Paul's policies would help make sure that people don't get put in prison or executed simply because of the color of their skin.
